Wine opens doors. It invites you to develop your senses, to discover new cultures and to take advantage of and enjoy the present.

My name is Jasmina and I am an independent sommelier. Here at Wine with Jasmina, I will give you the keys (in the shape of a bottle opener) to this bottomless universe.

Grapes, Growth, and Gastronomy: Jasmina's Wine Story

My relationship with wine began in Serbia, where I grew up and my parents had a small vineyard.

After studying biology, I decided to follow my budding romance with grapes abroad – in France. The start of our relationship was a bit rocky, as love stories tend to go. I had to learn a new language and culture. I sunk my teeth (well, my palate) into oenology in Montpellier at SupAgro and then studied in Italy.

From Theory to Practice

Little by little, practical experience replaced theory and I was able to get my hands dirty (literally), working at Domaine Paul Cherrier in Sancerre and Domaine des Perdrix in Bourgogne before becoming a sommelier in parisian gastronomic restaurants.

frequently asked questions

I would probably have become a chef. I’m so passionate about learning and discovering new horizons and I feel like cooking is another universe filled with creativity and flavors.

1 – The “legs” are the droplets you see on the inside of the glass and indicate the wine quality. False! They do not indicate whether a wine is good or not, but simply, the wine’s viscosity – the quantity of sugar or alcohol it contains.

2- Cheeses go best with red wine. Wrong! Most cheeses pair better with white wine than red wine. White wines are fresher and are not concerned with tannins as much as reds. For this reason, a white wine’s acidity pairs subtly and very well with the richness of most cheeses.

3- The older a wine is, the better it is. This is not true! Not all wines get better with age.

The sensation you get on your palate and in your mouth when you taste it : it could be velvety, unctuous, full or effervescent … you never know what you’re going to get!

In the Middle Ages, doctors considered wine as a remedy for various ailments and prescribed it as medicine. Considering the fact water at the time was not clean or drinkable, it is no wonder doctors turned to wine!
